Is Your Rollator Properly Adjusted?
56Adjusting a Rollator
Many people purchase adjustable Rollators however few of them know how to make the proper adjustments to their new walking aid. Below are some simple guidelines to use when setting the proper height of a rollator.
Step-1 Step up behind the rollator with your arms at your sides and both feet in line with the rear wheels.
Step-2 Use the adjustment features of your rollator to move the handles so that they are approximately in line with your hip joint.
Step-3 It is important for the greatest level of comfort and safety that your arms be slightly bent at your elbows (about 20 to 30 degrees) when you grip the handles of your rollator. (Please keep in mind that these are only guidelines intended for the average user and may not be perfect for everyone. If you need further assistance please consult your health care specialist. )
4"-6" handle adjustment capability is common to most rollators. If the user is 4’8" up to 5'2" tall then a juinior rollator might be a good choice. If the intended user is 5'3" to 5'11" tall than a standard adult sized rollator would work well. Extra Tall rollators can be used by people from about 5'11" - 6'4".
Rollator seat widths can range from 13" to 18" for Standard Adult sizes and for heavy-Duty models and Bariatric rollators 21” +.
